Verschoor endured a difficult season with none luck with the Trident team. He was disqualified twice this season for technical infringements and in addition encountered technical problems in Monaco, where he took pole position and seemed to be on course to victory.

“MP Motorsport actually gave me my first chance after years in karting,” Verschoor told Motorsport.

“In total, I drove for this team for six or seven years. During our first F2 season together, the sponsor dropped out and I couldn't finish the complete yr. As a result, this F2 season was quite stressful and felt like unfinished business for me.”

“At one point, several of the highest Formula 2 teams asked me what I can be doing next yr. Of course they know that I actually have been in Formula 2 for a few years, but possibly this experience will help and be a positive thing as well.

“I would like to fight for the championship again with this professional team. This year's performance itself wasn't that bad, although I was very unlucky.”

Verschoor joins MP Motorsport with immediate effect to interchange Hauger, who will compete in Indy NXT next season.

The move means he’ll race in Qatar and Abu Dhabi for the Dutch team.

“I might be racing for MP within the last races of the yr in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. “It's a very nice opportunity for next year, mainly to get used to each other and see what I might have to change in my driving style,” he added.

“I will also help keep Prema behind in the team championship.”

Addressing his ambitions elsewhere, Verschoor explained: “I had already talked to some teams for the 2025 season and was eager about testing in IndyAutomotive, but then the chance got here up.

“IndyAutomotive is certainly something I need in the long run, although possibly it's just a little too early now.

“Formula 2 can also be very attractive for all my sponsors, also because they’ll come to the races and at the identical time experience a weekend of Formula 1. Personally, I’d like to attempt to fight for the title for yet one more season. “
