Ten upcoming finishes to the 2024 NASCAR season

NASCAR is understood for eye-catching finishes, and this yr was one for the history books. Races in all three national divisions – Truck, Xfinity and Cup – ended with a winner crossing the finish line just a couple of thousandths of a second ahead of their competitor.

Draft tracks currently dominate this list, and while they make up about half of this yr's top ten attractions, the favored 2.5-mile oval topped the list. This is definitely the primary time since 2017 that a non-draft song has taken the highest spot. But before we highlight the closest finish every timewe still have a couple of things to do first…. .

10. Xfinity at Talladega – Jesse Love vs. Riley Herbst – 0.141s

Note: The Bristol Truck Race also had a winning margin of 0.141s, but we selected 'Dega' because it was the more dramatic of the 2 finals

2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Rookie of the Year Jesse Love earned his only victory of the season at Talladega Raceway. Passing Brennan Poole, Riley Herbst attacked from outside the highest five and took second after moving 4 times up the center. While the 2 argued over the primary loser, Love was left to dominate the checkered flag.

9. Texas Trucks – Kyle Busch vs. Corey Heim – 0.112 sec

No one thought this could be the last time we might see Kyle Busch in Victory Lane this yr, but that was his fate. No driver has more wins than KB in Xfinity or Trucks, and earlier this yr in Texas he earned his 66th Trucks win. Although Corey Heim almost caught Busch after harassing him for several laps, he ultimately did not get there.

8. Xfinity at Atlanta – Austin Hill vs. Chandler Smith – 0.106 seconds

NASCAR was running out of gas in all places during additional time, but not at Austin Hill. He charged from fourth to first and held off Chandler Smith, who was pulled by the oval debutant Shane van Gisbergen. Despite the chaos on the finish, Hill was still expected to make it, as will likely be the case in a modified Atlanta. The driver of the No. 21 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet has won 4 of the last five races there and stays among the finest performers in the game's lower leagues.

7. Nashville Cup – Joey Logano vs. Zane Smith – 0.068 sec

This stands out as the most vital ending of all the season. Without it, Joey Logano won’t grow to be a three-time Cup Series champion. It's one other race where fuel has grow to be a critical issue for much of the competition, and the Team Penske star stretched fuel enough for his only victory of the regular season. Perhaps just as impressive was the motive force who almost turned him down – Zane Smith, who was only a tenth of a second away from causing a shocking crash that will shock the NASCAR world. As fate would have it, nevertheless, Logano won the race and the championship, while Smith stays winless and has not secured his place for the 2025 season.

6. Cup at Daytona – Harrison Burton vs. Kyle Busch – 0.046 sec

While Smith did not create a Cinderella story for the ages, Harrison Burton managed to place that tumbler slipper in the enduring Wood Brothers No. 21. Thanks to pressure from Parker Retzlaff, who was intent on writing his own underdog story, Burton agreed to Busch and gave a robust block he ran to the finish line, desperate to win for the primary time in his Cup profession, while his father, Jeff, watched from the NBC booth. It was equally special for the Wood Brothers, who claimed their one centesimal victory and first because the 2017 season.

5. Trucks at Talladega – Grant Enfinger vs. Taylor Gray – 0.041 p

Grant Enfinger led the truck line on the ultimate lap of the opening round of Race 8 at Talladega. A win here would give every remaining playoff driver a spot within the Championship 4. Taylor Gray headed to the skin while veteran Enfinger held on to the underside. Both lost their pushers — getting caught in a spin behind the leading duo — leaving Gray and Enfinger in a drag race to the finish line within the closest finish of the 2024 NASCAR Truck season.

4. Talladega Cup – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. vs. Brad Keselowski – 0.006 p

There was a three-wide photo finish at Talladega in the autumn, but shockingly, it wasn't even the closest three-wide photo finish this yr! After a difficult season, Ricky Stenhouse Jr tried to spoil the play-off party within the round of 16. Brad Keselowski had no probability of him leaving turn 4 and decided not to dam. They were each pushed by Hendrick's drivers, but Stenhouse had the higher lead in the ultimate seconds of the race. He surged forward, maintaining his lead at the same time as his pusher, William Byron, pushed it far outside in order that it was three wide on the finish line. It was an enormous victory for one among the few units left in the game, with Stenhouse earning his fourth profession Cup victory – all on super-fast roads.

3. Atlanta Cup – Daniel Suarez vs. Ryan Blaney – 0.003 s

Those final three finishes are as close because it gets, and the one in Atlanta secured one among the five closest finishes in all the history of the NASCAR Cup Series. Daniel Suarez has never won on an oval as a Cup driver and was coming off a winless 2023 season when the chance presented itself. On the ultimate lap, Kyle Busch drove up the center between Ryan Blaney and Suarez, making a daring move that left them stuck in the ultimate corner. Suarez outperformed the 2 enough to ultimately grow to be the winner, beating Blaney by just 0.003. Third-placed Busch was just 0.007 seconds shy of victory, giving him probably the most three-wide photo finals in history.

2. Xfinity at Texas – Sam Mayer vs. Ryan Sieg – 0.002 seconds

Ryan Sieg, a driver/owner who has been racing in NASCAR's second division with no win for over a decade, was in a major position to finally start in Texas earlier this yr. However, Sam Mayer was closing quickly and caught up with Sieg with just half a lap to go. Mayer sailed into Turn 3, allowing Sieg to maneuver back under him. They slammed the door and crossed the road almost level, leaving everyone wondering who won the race. By just 0.002 seconds, Sieg was denied in a heartbreaking but sensational matchup within the Lone Star State.

1. Kansas Cup – Kyle Larson vs. Chris Buescher – 0.001 sec

In 2003, Ricky Craven and Kurt Busch tied the closest mark in NASCAR Cup Series history with a .002 mark. Decades have passed and nothing has been capable of top it…until this yr. Chris Buescher desperately tried to carry on to the lead going into the ultimate corner over the high line.

But it wasn't high enough. Kyle Larson managed to sneak to the skin and the race to the finish was on. Larson became Buescher, who landed on the apron as Martin Truex Jr. and Chase Elliott became near each of them.

It was so close on the finish that FOX Sport's Mike Joy appeared to think it was Buescher, and the RFK Racing team agreed and began celebrating! However, this euphoria only lasted for a short time, as timing and scoring put Larson ahead by only one thousandth of a second, which went down within the history books because the closest finish in history.
