Glock made quite a lot of attempts to return to the series, which he called his home in 2013-21, after leaving Formula 1, but moved only to at least one hospitable performance in Imola in 2022 with Ceccato Motors.

But the improvised trip to last yr's final Hockenheim in October established what ultimately led him to the exchange of the departing Clemens Schmid this yr Dorr.

“Chance played his role again. I visited my parents with my daughter at the weekend and realized that the DTM final was in Hockenheim, “said Glock Sister Title Motorsport-Total.com.

“So I drove next to my friend [and track’s managing director] Jochen Nerpel was there for 2 hours and fell into my former GP2 Richard Selwin race engineer on the network.

Glock previously collaborated with Selwin throughout the winning season with ISPORT in GP2 (currently Formula 2) in 2007.

Over the past few years, Selwin acted as an engineer of the BMW Project 1 team in DTM and World Endurance Championship, gaining the experience of running GT machines.

Project 1 had a brand new DTM Dorr Motorsport program last season, only to go bankrupt and force Dorr to start out your individual business. This also opened the door for Selwin to directly join the Dorr team.

“I say,” Hey, what are you doing here? ” – Glock remembered.

“He replied:” I’m here for Rainer Dorr and I look within the background how the band is formed because we will probably want to do something for it [new] season'.

“Then he asked me:” Would you want to start out behind the wheel again? “I said,” I would really like, in fact?

Glock didn’t find Rainer Dorr on the Hockenheim net, but he was in a position to get it on the times after the event.

The five -time winner of the DTM race already knew the owner of the Dorr team, earlier he talked about joining his team within the 2024 season.

“I sent him a message two days later, saying that if he wants to talk about cooperation again, we could talk on the phone,” said Glock.

“We did it – and then everything went quite quickly. We both had clear ideas on this topic – he had my own, I had mine. “

After the conversation, Dorr organized a day in Hockenheim in a short while to provide Glock a likelihood to try McLaren 720s GT3.

“We used the test day well and finally said:” We need someone who has experience. ” And for me it was crucial that Richard Selwin was on board, “he said.

Both parties quickly got here to an agreement, and the contract was made public before Christmas in December.

It can be the primary full Glock program since it was racing within the Italian GT series in 2022. He was dropped from the BMW factory at the top of the season and since then he graduated from just a few race two-time DTM Timo Scheider champion, a 24-hour winner of classes in the category Le Mans Jeroen Blekemolen class and British Peter Cate are an important event.
