“Do you have to come from a first world country to be heard?”

Competitor-hero Jose Ignacio Cornejo has sharply criticized the Dakar Rally organizers for some errors in the brand new digital roadbook introduced for the primary time this yr within the bicycle category.

Cornejo was certainly one of many riders to lose time attributable to roadbook problems at the beginning of the 2025 Dakar in Saudi Arabia, leaving him almost 10 minutes behind overall leader Daniel Sanders of KTM.

Australian cyclist Sanders himself had trouble on Stage 3 on Tuesday and the organizers awarded him 4:54 seconds, which helped him increase his advantage over his closest chase and Honda rival, Skyles Howes.

This prompted Cornejo to take to the web to complain of bias and ask why he was not compensated for problems together with his own roadbook throughout the Dakar.

“What's going on @dakarrally?” – he wrote on Instagram on Tuesday evening. “Many motorcyclists currently had problems with the electronic roadbook and nobody was capable of turn back the clock until today.

“I personally had problems for 2 days in a row, driving within the dust of others to know where to go and following the lines, not knowing when danger would come, getting lost in following others because my instruments weren't working, and just today you made the choice to present time to the opposite players involved.

“Why is it true for some and not for others? Do we have to come from a first world country to be heard?”

Cornejo is a veteran of 10 Dakar starts and after six years with Honda, he moved to Indian manufacturer Hero in 2025.

His former teammate Tosha Schareina, who stays with HRC this season, was prone to take first or second place within the early stages of the race on Saturday until he encountered roadbook problems. Ultimately, he finished fourth within the every day order.

“There was an error in the roadbook, as we have seen on occasion, for example in Morocco,” he told Motorsport.com Spain. “We'll see if they don't give you your time back, because in the end it's obviously very unfair, so I hope they give us our time back.”
