Carson Hocevar booked for caution incident

Hocevar, 21, is currently competing in his rookie season as a Cup driver. During the Cup race at Nashville, Brad Keselowski crashed and received a caution on lap 244.

As the sector slowed down on the straight, Hocevar began to slip into the back of Harrison Burton, who was running in twenty fifth place. Hocevar eventually steered Burton to the correct, causing a multi-car pileup [Todd Gilliland and Austin Cindric] need to take evasive motion to avoid a bigger incident. John-Hunter Nemechek also narrowly escaped arrest.

The No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford of Burton sustained no significant damage in the course of the spin, and the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet of Hocevar continued without incident. Hocevar finished sixteenth and Burton twenty eighth.

NASCAR took no motion on the time, and nobody was called to the carrier to debate the incident. However, on Tuesday, NASCAR decided to tremendous Hocevar $50,000 and dock him 25 driver points. The penalty drops him from twenty second to twenty fourth within the championship standings.

NASCAR said Hocevar violated Section 4.4B of the NASCAR Members’ Code of Conduct, calling it a conduct penalty. This isn’t the primary time Hocevar has been penalized for intentional contact on the track. Last 12 months, he was stopped for 2 laps during a truck race at Martinsville after trying to select on Taylor Gray on the track.

The only other penalties from the weekend involved two NASCAR Truck Series teams with loose wheel lugs. Crew chiefs Jon Leonard (No. 42) and Jeriod Prince (No. 88) were each fined $2,500.
