Williams explains O'Sullivan, Browning F2 shuffle

Williams sporting director Sven Smeets has suggested that ART's Zak O'Sullivan's departure from Formula Two was not purely financial, after he was replaced by one other Williams junior, Luke Browning.

O'Sullivan announced after the Monza event that he wouldn’t complete his debut campaign, citing financial problems as the rationale for his resignation.

He was replaced at ART by Browning, who finished third in F3 that season and was within the championship mix before the ultimate race.

Speaking exclusively to Motorsport.com, Smeets suggested that two-time race winner O'Sullivan's sudden departure from ART is just not solely in charge for funding.

“It's going to be much more important to have solid racing, and that's what we've been building on for most of this year,” Reddick said of the wild-card aspect of this round. “Yes, it will be nice to leave here with a win and we don't have to worry about the next two, but our strong point is certainly getting top fives and top 10s and scoring a lot of points. If we do that here, we'll be in a position where we're not overly stressed for Talladega and then Roval.”

Michael Andretti is stepping down from his role as owner of Andretti Global, but will remain a key a part of the organization as an envoy and advisor.

Andretti's decision to step back from the team he co-founded in 2002 will see Group 1001 CEO Dan Towriss take control of the corporate. There was a change of leader first reported by Sporticoand Andretti Global later released an announcement confirming the team's updates.

“Michael's goal was to maneuver to a more strategic role at Andretti Global and focus less on the operational side of the race team. Michael and Dan Towriss have worked closely to develop this latest structure, which Michael is worked up to take shape under Dan's leadership.

“Michael stays committed and can proceed to function a strategic advisor and key ambassador. We can have more to share in the approaching weeks once Michael and Dan have had the chance to talk with the team,” the statement read.

Towriss originally entered North America's premier open-wheel championship as a sponsor – together with Group 1001 and Gainbridge – for Zach Veach in 2018. Towriss remained a key a part of the Andretti team (then credited as Andretti Autosport) after his early split with Veach, even increasing your investment in your outfit.

Since then, the saga of Andretti and Towriss has continued, with each attempting to get into Formula 1 in 2021. After being unable to take over the present F1 team, the 2 formed Andretti Global to deal with entering the worldwide series as a constructor. This effort has been met with loads of drama because the organization continues to search for a possibility to turn out to be the eleventh team and produce General Motors onto the F1 grid.

Since Towriss' partnership with Andretti, the organization has expanded its presence within the motorsports landscape, including the IMSA SportsCar Championship and Extreme E, in addition to Formula E, IndyAutomotive and Indy NXT. Additionally, Gainbridge supports Spire in NASCAR, and Marco Andretti, Michael's son, drives for them within the Truck Series in select races.
