Pratt Miller returns to prototypes with an LMP2 entry for the 2025 IMSA season

Corvette Racing partner Pratt Miller Motorsports will add a prototype program to its IMSA SportsCar Championship lineup next season, fielding an LMP2 entry alongside the GTD Pro effort.

Pietro Fittipaldi has joined the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing IndyAutomotive program to take over the management of the ORECA-Gibson 07 team.

He might be joined by Irishman James Roe, who is predicted to attach the fourth season of Indy NXT with a Bronze-rated driver, who’s mandatory in the category, which has yet to be announced.

The entry marks a return to prototype racing for one of the crucial successful sports automotive operations in North America, which has won nine class wins since 2001 with the Corvette.

She built the Intrepid GTP designed by the late Bob Riley and his son Bill, which won on the New Orleans street circuit in 1991, and was also involved in constructing the Corvette Daytona prototype that won the 2014 24 Hours of Daytona and the primary three titles of the fashionable IMSA Era.

“We are excited to deepen our commitment to IMSA with the launch of the LMP2 program,” said Pratt Miller Motorsports Vice President Brandon Widmer.

“With Pietro Fittipaldi's extensive championship experience across multiple racing formats and James Roe's climb up the US open-wheel rankings, we’re confident that these drivers bring the skill and determination needed to make sure the success of our LMP2 debut.

“We expect to announce a Bronze-rated driver and a fourth rally driver in the near future, further strengthening our team for the upcoming season.”

Fittipaldi, who began two Formula 1 races for Haas in 2020 after Romain Grosjean was injured in Bahrain, already has LMP2 experience, having won full seasons of competition within the European Le Mans Series and World Endurance Championship in 2022 and 2023.

The Brazilian has competed 4 times in IMSA's P2 division, along with his best finish this season being fourth at Daytona.

The PMM-led Corvette Racing team has not yet announced its driver line-up for 2025, when it is going to again start with two Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs.

Alexander Sims and Antonio Garcia finished third on this yr's GTD Pro standings, earning Corvette Racing's 116th victory at Mosport, while Nicky Catsburg and Tommy Milner finished eighth.
