Collet returns to HMD Motorsports for 2025 Indy NXT season

HMD Motorsports announced that Caio Collet will return for the 2025 Indy NXT season.

Collet has already earned Rookie of the Year honors after a rookie campaign that saw him record one win, five podiums and one pole position in 13 races. He currently sits third within the championship standings with just yet one more round remaining within the season finale this weekend at Nashville Superspeedway.

“I am excited to continue my partnership with Indy NXT and HMD Motorsports,” explained Collet.

“Almost every track this season was new to me, so with a year under my belt, more experience, more knowledge and knowing what to expect, I set myself ambitious goals for 2025. It was great working with my engineer Mike (Reggio) and the whole team and I know they have big goals as a program for 2025 and beyond.”

The 22-year-old Brazilian has competed within the Indy NXT race this yr, while also serving as a reserve and simulator driver for the Nissan Formula E Team. He made his racing debut this yr at Portland International Raceway.

“Caio is a true talent behind the wheel and his approach to each day, weekend and season is unique,” added team president Mike Maurini.

“What he did in 2024 was impressive. After never having driven on any of these tracks, and seeing some of them for the first time on a race weekend, and also with no pre-season testing due to the bad weather test days, we expect Caio to be in the thick of the title fight in 2025. He has a very bright future ahead of him.”

Collet, for his part, is looking forward to competing on this weekend’s round on the 1.33-mile oval track, which is the most important oval track within the developmental IndyAutomotive Series.

“It will be the biggest oval I’ve ever run,” Collet said. “We had a good test and hopefully we can carry that over to the race weekend. Ultimately, the more laps I can do this weekend, regardless of the result, the better it will look for 2025.”
