Santino Ferrucci signs with AJ Foyt Racing for 2025 season

It’s been an extended road to see a flash of success for each Santino Ferrucci and AJ Foyt, however the pair are set to see what else they’ll accomplish together, following Thursday’s announcement that Ferrucci will pilot the No. 14 Sexton Properties Chevrolet for AJ Foyt Racing within the 2025 IndyAutomotive season.

Since returning home from the European racing scene, the 26-year-old Connecticut native has been out and in of the series, attempting to stay competitive and at the highest of the list in open-wheel racing. In those part-time appearances, he’s proven his skills behind the wheel. Since 2019, he’s managed to complete in the highest 10 in all six Indy 500 races. This yr, he won the pole position on the Portland Grand Prix, ending eighth within the race. But then he finished fourth in each races in Milwaukee.

He enters this weekend’s season finale at Nashville Superspeedway tenth within the points standings. The latter two are significant for Team AJ, coming off of twenty fourth and twenty fifth within the 2022 point standings. Ferrucci was capable of return the team to the Leaders Circle in 2023, ending twentieth overall.

According to team president Larry Foyt, the team and Ferrucci got along well, and the team owed its success to Ferrucci's talent.

“This continuity is great for the team and I believe that the combination of Ferrucci and [David] “Malukas will be a powerful addition to AJ Foyt Racing next season,” said Foyt.

Malukas signed with the team just last month and will probably be coming from Meyer Shank Racing. He almost got his first series win at Gateway, but contact with Team Penske’s Will Power put an end to that dream. Perhaps he can get that first win with Foyt next yr. Ferrucci definitely thinks it’s possible.

“I think Larry has done a great job building this team to where they are now in a position to win the Indy 500 and compete for championships,” Ferrucci said. “Everyone there has been a tremendous turnaround for this team. We’ve all put a lot of time, energy and hard work into this program, and I really want to see it through, not just as a driver, but on a personal level.”
