Juncos Hollinger Racing (JHR) hopes Romain Grosjean will see that they’re doing well and stay beyond the 2024 IndyCar Series season. But that shouldn’t be certain in the intervening time.
“He’s one of those people you can learn a lot from,” team co-owner Ricardo Juncos told Motorsport.com. “But well, now we don’t know if we’ll be able to continue working with him or not.”
“He already has offers from other places. There are a lot of drivers in the area, and there are some options — that aren't there yet — that have spots available for next year.”
Grosjean joined JHR within the off-season and has five top-10 finishes in 13 races – essentially the most since JHR became a full-time IndyCar team in 2022. The Swiss-born Frenchman also achieved the team’s highest finish this yr, ending fourth at Laguna Seca in June.
Amid the drama surrounding second place at JHR (which led to the recent swap of Agustin Canapino for Conor Daly for the remaining of the season), Juncos is grateful for the steadiness and professionalism that Grosjean provides.

“Grosjean is a driver who brings a lot, a lot of experience,” said Juncos. “It’s been really good working with him this yr. The truth is that he sets the bar high. He’s easy, with lots of personality. He puts all the pieces in black and white, which is what I like. He’s very cordial with people, especially with the mechanics. It’s just like the team isn’t divided.
“Apart from the fact that sometimes there are no results, communication is very important and it is very important that the whole group understands what happened: whether it was a problem with the tyres, whether it was a problem with the engine, whether it was a problem with the strategy, whether the driver made a mistake, whether the car was not working, whether the set-up was not right.”
Juncos could be keen to keep up continuity into the 2025 season – especially given Grosjean’s wealth of experience, which incorporates 179 Formula 1 starts before joining IndyCar in 2021.
“Yes, I think he is very happy with the team as a whole, with everything he says,” Juncos said.
“I hope that somehow we can continue because I have always believed that long-term programs produce the best results if they can be continued.”
