Muller spent two seasons with the German side and impressed last term, scoring six points through the 12 months, including 4 in a row within the last two rounds, putting him 48 points clear of teammate and 2016/17 champion Lucas di Grassi.

The 32-year-old replaces Nato, who raced with Andretti for only one season, during which era he scored only one podium and finished five points behind Muller within the Drivers’ Championship, despite being in a much stronger group overall.

His teammate Jake Dennis won the 2022/23 Drivers’ Championship with Andretti within the Porsche customer team, while Pascal Wehrlein won the championship this 12 months driving for the works team.

“I am very excited to join the Andretti Formula E team. This is a team that has enjoyed success since the beginning of the championship, especially in the Gen3 era in partnership with Porsche Motorsport,” said Muller.

“Working with Jake [Dennis]Being a former world champion is an honor for me and I’m looking forward to this chance.

Muller joins Andretti, who has been linked with Porsche after completing a non-public test for the German marque earlier this season.

This comes after Antonio Felix da Costa struggled with pace and leads to the opening races, and there have been rumours that Porsche could sack him mid-season.

However, after winning 4 out of 5 races last season, the Portuguese driver has been retained and is anticipated to fulfil his contract until the 2024/25 season.

Da Costa admitted, nonetheless, that he would love to compete within the World Endurance Championship again, but Muller has no intention of doing so this term after stepping down from Peugeot, meaning that if he excels next 12 months, he could consider a move to Porsche in 2025/26.

Michael Andretti, Andretti CEO, added: “We have high expectations for Season 11 and we’re confident that acquiring a driver of Nico’s calibre will help us deliver results.

“His experience and success in Formula E and lots of other high-profile racing series shall be key as we proceed to extend the depth of our driver line-up.

“We can’t wait to see what Nico can do as we continue our pursuit of wins and world championships.”
